Monkey HEPATOPAC® co-cultures are micropatterned on industry-standard plates which can be customized for various applications and to meet size requirements.

Monkey HEPATOPAC kits are shipped with all necessary media and an instructions for use manual. Dosing can begin two days after receiving the kit.

Monkey HEPATOPAC co-cultures remain viable and highly functional for four weeks. The co-cultures secrete albumin, synthesize urea, display functional bile  canaliculi, and metabolize compounds using active Phase I and Phase II drug metabolism  enzymes. The following data illustrates the morphology, liver function, and metabolizing enzyme activity expected from rat HEPATOPAC co-cultures.

Monkey HEPATOPAC co-cultures were created and maintained in vitro for over four weeks. Over this time there were no substantial  changes to the morphology of micropatterned co-cultures and the polygonal shape was maintained. The pictures below illustrate the morphology at day 7 and the robus network of bile caniculi at day 28.

Liver Function

The following chart shows urea synthesis in a monkey HEPATOPAC co-culture over time, illustrating the long-term viability of the HEPATOPAC co-culture.

Metabolizing Enzyme Activity

Various CYP and Phase 2 enzyme activities were measured in monkey HEPATOPAC co-cultures. Metabolites were assessed using mass spectrometry. The following charts illustrate that HEPATOPAC co-cultures maintain metabolic activity over time.
