The mouse has long been considered to be the premier mammalian model system for genetic research. Scientists have looked to the mouse because of its close genetic and physiological similarities to humans, as well as the ease with which its genome can be manipulated and analyzed.

Blood plasma is a clear, yellow liquid which comprised approximately 55% of the total volume of blood. The components of plasma and serum are similar as both contain hormones, glucose, electrolytes, antibodies, antigens, nutrients and certain other particles except clotting factors which are present only in plasma. Plasma is a major source of biomarkers.
